Dr. Cheryl Major Brandon, EdD - Instructor
Dynamics of Effective Study (Freshmen Orientation)
Born and raised in Winnsboro, LA, the parish seat of Franklin parish, Dr. Cheryl Major Brandon completed her undergraduate and graduate studies at Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA with additional graduate hours from Louisiana State University, Louisiana Tech., and Southeastern Louisiana State University. She completed the Bachelors of Science in Vocational Home Economics, a Master of Education in Secondary Education, and a Doctorate of Education in Special Education. Dr. Brandon holds certifications from the Louisiana State Department of Education in the following areas:
Vocational Home Economics, Child Search Coordinator, Occupational Foods Service, Supervisor of Student Teaching, Supervisor of Instruction, Principal, and Mild/Moderate (1-12).
Dr. Brandon recently attended the University of Virginia’s Partnership for Leaders in Education (Darden School of Business - Curry School of Education) School Turnaround Specialist Program. She has +25 years of professional educational and community service experience. Dr. Brandon constantly pursues professional improvement via participation in national and professional in-services. Additionally, Dr. Brandon currently serves as Adjunct Instructor in the Graduate School of Northwestern State University, L.S.U. Independent Study Instructor / Family and Consumer Sciences, and QART Chairperson for Southern Accreditation of Colleges and Schools (SACS). She has also served as Content Specialists Special Education for The New Teacher Project (TNTP) and Teach Baton Rouge (nationally recognized teacher alternative certification programs), Dr. Brandon also serves on the advisory committees of State Senator Sharon Weston Broome and State Representative Regina Barrow.
Dr. Brandon is an active Lay Leader at Bethany World Prayer Center where she has fellowshipped for the past 28 years. Her son and his wife and her daughter are currently educators in public school systems in the state of Louisiana.
