Welcome to all new Hornets! We are so proud that you have decided to join the Scotlandville Magnet High School family. We all know that the transition from middle school to high school can be a difficult one. Our Freshman Academy is designed to aid in that transition and ensure that all freshmen have the support they need to excel both academically and socially. The first year of high school lays the foundation for the next three years and beyond. Let us all--students, parents, teachers, administrators and community members--work together to make sure we achieve our goals!

** Each six weeks, FA teachers select two G.O.L.D Scholars. These are students who have lived up to the FA motto (see above). Not only are they recognized publicly by having their picture placed on the Wall of Honor, but they also receive a free dress day, a small token of appreciation, and an award certificate.
** Each six weeks, all freshmen are called to the auditorium for a special advisory session. During these sessions, G.O.L.D Scholars are recognized, and students get to discuss career/social topics with guest speakers, display their individual talents, and participate in team building exercises.
** Upon request, freshmen are assigned a Hornet Helper freshman mentor. These students are high achieving, goal-oriented juniors and seniors who serve as a "Big Brother/Sister" to the new Hornets. To request a mentor, fill out the online form under FRESHMAN ACADEMY -> FRESHMAN HELP.
