Frequently asked Questions by Parents
Does my child have to wear a uniform?
Yes, once a week(Thursday's), or when taking part in special ceremonies.
Are there any fees for uniforms and text books?
No, the JROTC program supplies uniforms and text books used in the course. Our $5.00 lab fee provides the engraved name tag
Is JROTC as hard as it sounds?
The course is demanding, but most students who make an effort really enjoy the challenge, structured environment and discipline.
Can JROTC help my child go to college?
If the potential is there, it can definitely help. JROTC training helps the cadet focus, take tests, and set goals. These are tools a student needs to get better grades and have a better chance to attend college.
You say you're not recruiting, but don't many JROTC graduates enter the military?
Yes, many cadets enjoy military discipline, structure, and the positive can-do attitude. Those who enlist can enter military service at a higher rank and pay grade. Some earn and accept Senior ROTC college scholarships, and others win appointments to one of the military academies. The JROTC program is not set up to recruit and does not expect a military commitment of any kind.
Is there someone I can talk to about the JROTC program?
Yes, either the school guidance counselor or the JROTC Instructors will answer any questions you may have.
